New Zealand Coffee

dinking a fluffyNew Zealanders are pretty serious about their coffee, and you won’t have to look hard for a decent cup wherever you go.

The most popular cup is a flat white, which is a shot or two of espresso with milk – less milk than a latte, and less froth than a latte. It certainly makes ordering a decent cup of coffee easy! A single-shot cup of coffee is generally around $3.50-$4.00, and a muffin or slice is around $3 – 4$.

One thing you will appreciate if you have children is the fluffy – steamed milk served in a cup with plenty of froth and often with marshmallows or sweets on the side. Fluffies run from around $1 to $2, and they generally guarantee you five minutes of peace to drink your own coffee. Bliss!

You will also be well catered for in New Zealand cafes if you drink tea, with a pot of tea for one generally costing around $3.50. Most establishments offer a range of different teas, including herbal teas, green tea and chai.
